If you've been wondering where I'm at, it's been busy.

I was on night shift for a time, then catching up with sleep from that time to settle back into more PTO. During this PTO I have been setting up and modernizing the homelab!

It took some time, as I was backing up roughly 10TB worth of files, pictures, and movies off of a media server that was running TrueNAS on baremetal. The other server running ProxMox.

ProxMox made me envious. I was able to do so much more, so much easier. With the help of [ProxMox Helper Scripts](https://community-scripts.org/?ref=periapses.com), I almost don't need any other pre-baked solution like YunoHost or whatever to get my favorite apps up and running quickly.

With the help of AI, I can mimic these scripts and make my own! I have made some for setting up multiple LXCs/VMs with a single command.

So now, I have two servers. One with spinning-disk drives I've accumulated over the years, and one with SSDs I specifically got for a Synology NAS that... well let's just say it didn't do the job. So now I had a bunch.

Anyway, SSD server guy is now running ProxMox! I have two ProxMox servers, which frees up the necessity to have my Mini-PC cluster at all. I can use those for other things!

## What other things for the mini-PCs?

Now that I have my things-server and my media-server, the mini-PCs can be used as my media watchers! Or... better yet, the actual home-LAB.

With the help of my AI helper scripts, I can slap one command into a proxmox mini-cluster of those pcs. Each one can have a specific set of containers that I can spin up, with specific apps on each, IPs set, users baked in, whatever!

Why would I need this?

Cybersecurity labs. Ever tried TryHackMe? Or HackTheBox? they have basically this. But SUPER SMALL because they have to have these labs for thousands of people. I have just me.... maybe a buddy. Trying to "hack" these boxes. I don't want hacking labs as part of my main infrastructure.

I can spin up a schlew of machines with kali, ubuntu, windows Server, and have some with Active Directory, DNS servers, Proxy/web servers, each running vulnerable versions of their relative setups.

Best part, I can have the entire box backed up. if I actually break my own stuff, The entire host is backed up on to my ProxMox Backup Server.

## Nerd talk over dude, when are you streaming next?

I'll be getting back on stream as soon as...

Well probably October, to be frank.

I have a business trip I am heading on and won't be around my computer.

Hit me up on Discord in the meantime, I still gotta make sure my permissions are set up correctly there!

If ya'll don't mind me talking nerdy to you, I like sharing what I'm doing outside of the stream. Let me know if you like the casual form sharing of this sort of stuff or if you'd like more formal and more pictures and all that. Or if there should be a more regular schedule to it.
